My Experience with Google’s New AI Image Editor
I am Sudharsan Arivalagan (3D Artist and AI Enthusiast). I recently had the opportunity to experiment with Google’s newly launched Gemini 2.0 Flash, and I’m impressed by its powerful yet intuitive image editing capabilities. As someone who works with food photography, I wanted to see how well it could handle specific editing requests.

Food Photography Transformation
My initial experiment focused on dessert photography. I instructed Gemini to swap a strawberry on top of ice cream with a cherry. The outcome was flawless — the AI grasped the context and executed a natural-looking substitution that preserved the composition's aesthetics.
Then, I proceeded to burger photography, which yielded even more intriguing results. I asked Gemini to remove the tomatoes from a burger while leaving all other components unchanged.
The before and after images illustrate the precision with which the AI completed this task:
In the “Before” image: A fully assembled burger with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and cheese
In the “After” image: The same burger with only the tomatoes omitted, while perfectly retaining the other ingredients and overall appearance

Why This Matters
What most impressed me wasn’t merely that Gemini could perform these edits, but how it maintained the food’s natural appearance. There were no awkward artifacts or evident signs of manipulation. The lighting, shadows, and textures all stayed consistent.

Beyond Simple Edits
While my examples highlight straightforward object removal and replacement, Gemini 2.0 Flash seems capable of tackling more complex editing tasks as well. The interface is user-friendly — you simply provide a prompt detailing the desired changes.
Final Thoughts
For food bloggers, small business owners, or anyone needing quick, professional-looking image edits without advanced Photoshop skills, Gemini 2.0 Flash marks a significant advancement. The technology comprehends context and delivers natural results that previously required professional editing expertise.
Have you tried Gemini 2.0 Flash yet? I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments!
